Fun day Fun ride at Thunder Ridge:

July 8th the NE region hosts a fun day and new member ride at the Thunder Ridge MX Park in South Edmonton New York. Over 40 members with spouses and kids showed up to have some fun in the sun… check out the pics of the day. A full report by Mike Brillo is forth coming…

Our next event is with the boys from ACR at the legendary track Southwick. We will be running a non point’s race and running ACR classes for the day.

Hot off the press…

OK gang get the lead out… I just talked to Tommy Hurd at Broom about having us display some of our iron at the Broom National and he agreed that it would be cool to have an vintage bike display set up for the Broom National August 18th,19th, and 20th… so here is what can do and will need.

We’ll pull together 3-10x10 easy ups for a 10x30 display area of some of the finest vintage mx bikes in the country of the AHRMA North East Region, and we’ll use this a recruitment tool for us too!

The AHRMA NE region will supply the bikes, the memorabilia, and personnel to man the booth. We would like the display to run the whole weekend beginning with the Amateur races and into the National race on Sunday. On Sunday we could host an autograph cession that morning with some of the champs. Even George Denke “the voice of Motocuse” has offered to help us on the project. I’ll follow up with Tony D and the Jammer to see how their schedules look. I’ll also ask Brad lackey if he is available to head out east that weekend. Are there any other champs that you guys have a relationship with that you would like to include? I would be happy to make contact for you with your introduction and see if we could get them on board. I’ll be sure we get press coverage from the rags including cycle news, Vintage views, VMX magazine and Racer X. If the folks from Speed are there I’ll check with some of my contacts if we can get them over to the booth for some impromptu to interviews with the former champs.

This could be a real cool annual event for Broom! So get the word out and follow up with me direct if you can attend, share in hosting the booth, and bring some iron to display?

In the meantime if you have any questions or some good ideas don’t hesitate to call me direct at 315 415 6478…

Thanks
Alex

A message from your AHRMA Northeast Coordinators

Welcome to Vintage Racing and the AHRMA Northeast Web site. We’re glad you took a few minutes to hit our link and share our passion of vintage competition. For 2006 we have pulled together a full race venue for our region with over 8 races in New York and Pennsylvania! Once again we will combine efforts with our Mid-Atlantic friends in a 3 race North Atlantic series for bragging rights on the “Right Coast!” We will showcase some of the finest racing the AHRMA North East region has to offer. In fact we are going to be placing a greater emphasis on the 100cc class for 2006. In conjunction with one of our great sponsors Paul Standard and “Strictly Hodaka”, we will sponsor a 100cc class series for 2006 with a special over all awards to each of the class winners for novice, intermediate, and expert! At our National we will also show support by adding the 100cc class into our venue as a support event with its own “special awards!” These awards will be handed out by none other than legionary Jim “FIRST AMERICAN” Pomeroy! The 100cc class is a great entry class and we can’t wait to see those fun machines out on the tack in 2006!

Rausch Creek Race Report

Rausch Creek Season Opener is a Gas!

3 Time national champ Tony D took his show on the road and hosted his first ever Vintage MX School for the North East opener at Rausch Creek Raceway outside of Tremont PA. Tony and three of his finest instructors teamed up to give 16 eager students a full day of instruction on how to go fast and safe. The all inclusive training with individual attention to technical improvement began with a safety primer and moved through a comprehensive set of drills involving Starts, Cone Drills, Power Braking, Strategic Cornering and Jumping. Tony’s passionate love for our sport and expertise came through loud and clear. In addition to the great training tips and lots of fun, the weather was perfect almost all of the day with balmy temperatures and sun! A power lunch was provided by the NE Region along with some real swank Metro Racing Jerseys. Our thanks to Tony D and his fine team of instructors for bringing such a class act MX school to the “Creek”.
