What a night! We had just about 80 members and guests attend the AHRMA North East Region awards banquet and what a time it was. Our guest speaker was Todd Huffman producer of the nationally acclaimed motocross series “The Motocross Files”. Todd took the red eye to join his east coast bud's and tell us a bit of history regarding his riding background and some of the inspirations that got him involved to do the MX Files. One story that he shared was when he was a kid his first MX bike which had a bit of a motor problem (or lack of an working power plant) and he and his buds would push the bike up the hills of northern California and do their best impersonations of a 2 stroke as they glided down the “slopes”. And as we saw, Todd also did a nice tribute to the MX files champs for us at the banquet and especially to our bud Jim Pomeroy… then it quickly cut into some real funny off air discussion that you would never see on the airwaves… Out hats off to Todd for coming out to share such a great evening with us. Plus our old friend Tony D came once again this year with his lovely wife Anna to do a bit a bench racing. Thanks for coming on down guys and sharing this super evening with us!
Riders from all over the region showed up to rekindle this past race season camaraderie and cheer each other on during the awards ceremony. We shared a fantastic dinner together, gathered around to check out the Kool bikes and had great conversations about everything from winter projects to the upcoming 2007 race schedule.
YES, we displayed the project bike! Yep, our friends Jim Diebert and Uncle Brucie actually got the bike pulled together and showed off this great masterpiece at the awards banquet. Many thanks to our sponsors and friends who helped us with the project including the gang from Öhlins, Michelin tires, Penton Racing, DC plastics, CR Racing, Motion Pro, Jakes Garage, ME Racing, Moto Lift, Badco, Top Oils, CZ Guru Henry Gref, Full Circle Racing, AMS, Lanny Jay and his trick CZ tank and a second CZ tank provided by Metal Masters, and Metro Racing (hope I didn’t leave anyone out!). The project bike was donated to the NE region by its members and components supplied by its sponsors. This prize machine will be auctioned off at the AHRMA Ocala National on Saturday March 3rd. Proceeds go support the NE Region and its members.
We did our second annual silent auction at the banquet again this year and the folks from Öhlins stepped up to the plate with set of classic shocks along with some goodies from 82 world champ Brad Lackey, Bruce and Amy, Ms Carol, Ricky Baluch and his better half.. Lanny Jay with his trick hand crafted CZ tank, Metro Racing for the race gear, Thunder ridge and Jim Simmons for a great race helmet give away and to the folks at Works Enduro Rider for a set of great Trellie tires.
